More About

ED BYRNE COMEDY CAREER

Ed Byrne’s stand-up career began when he was studying at Strathclyde University, where he was the MC at various student events.

It wouldn’t be long before Ed dropped out of his studies and started up a small comedy club in Glasgow, before moving it to London.

His career went from strength to strength, and he was nominated for a Perrier Award in 1998, performed at some of the biggest-selling shows at Edinburgh Fringe, played at Dublin’s Gaiety and Olympia theatres, as well as in London’s West End, and released several DVDs of his tours.

But it is not just in the UK he has excelled; Ed has developed a huge following overseas, and has performed as far and wide as New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, Bermuda, Belgium,     Norway, and Switzerland.

He has also made appearances at the Just For Laughs Festival in Canada, at the US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, and performed on NBC’s Late Night With Conan O’Brien an impressive five times.

On top of his comedy work, Ed is also an actor and has appeared in Father Ted and provided the voice for a character in My Freaky Family.
