Food enthusiast and self-taught cook George Egg has made it his goal to change the way we cook and eat. Away from the kitchen, he is also a popular stand-up comedian.

His one-man show ‘George Egg: Anarchist Cook’ premiered at the Brighton Fringe 2014, and he has since toured with ‘DIY Chef’ in 2017, ‘Moveable Feast’ in 2019, and Set Menu in 2023.

GEORGE EGG – COMEDY 

George Egg has performed up and down the UK and Ireland at events including Pub in the Park, Glastonbury Festival, Groundswell Festival, Deer Shed Festival, Camp Wildfire Festival, Brighton Fringe, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

He has also performed around the world in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Estonia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, and Turkey.

His stand-up comedy saw him named in The Times and The Scotsman Best Shows at Edinburgh Fringe in 2019, as well as awarded the Spirit of the Fringe – Edinburgh in 2015 for his ‘Anarchist Cook’ show.

He is the co-writer of the popular blog ‘MEALMEN’ which documents his culinary life and passions, and features opinion pieces, food photographs, and the recipes he invents and cooks for his family. He studied visual and performing arts at the University of Brighton, and has since hosted lectures there on his work.

He has also lectured at Southampton Solent University, where he ended up teaching the students the most important and valuable life-skill: cooking omelettes.

GEORGE EGG – MEDIA George has cooked on various TV shows, including on Great British Bake Off’s spin-off show An Extra Slice, Steph’s Packed Lunch, and This Morning.

He also presented a number of cooking videos to promote the BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards.

His unconventional cooking skills saw him front a three-film campaign for Vauxhall, in which he drove around the country cooking for various tradespeople using the tools that they might have on their building sites and in their factories.

Another ‘branded content’ presentation saw him fly to Toronto to front a campaign for Dewars Whiskey in conjunction with their Burns’ Night celebration ‘The Scotch Egg Club’. While in Canada, he made various TV and radio appearances in advance of the evening, which he hosted, and for which he designed and oversaw the menu using a mixture of traditional Scottish and Canadian ingredients.

He has also appeared in non-cooking capacities on How Hacks Work as a panel member, as well as in an acting role on BBC3’s Ideal. George is also a popular voice on radio, having appeared on BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme, and The Loose Ends, as well as Radio 4 Extra’s ‘The Comedy Club’.

He has appeared on a range of high-profile podcasts, including The Odditorium, The Comedian’s Comedian, Hoovering with Jess Fostekew, A Glass With…, Jason Manford’s Absolute Radio Podcast, Tea With Alice, Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast, and Insane in the Men Brain.
