NEIL DELAMERE | COMEDY

Neil Delamere started his comedy career in 2004 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, attracting numerous five-star reviews, which led to him appearing on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (2009). He would go on to return to Edinburgh in 2009 with Bookmarks, once again receiving multiple five-star reviews.

Neil has released a number of successful DVDs of his stand-up, including No Message (2007) and Crème Delamere (2009) – both of which received platinum status – Implement of Divilment (2011) and The Fresh Prince of Delamere (2015).

Neil’s popularity grew with each stand-up show, and it led to him being a regular booking on some of TV’s most-watched programmes. He has starred in the likes of Stand Up For the Week (2011), Richard Osman’s House of Games (2017), Frankie Boyle’s New World Order (2017) and Pointless Celebrities (2022). He was also a guest star on Countdown (2022), working in dictionary corner alongside Susie Dent.

He is also a regular contributor for BBC Radio 4 on The News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth and The Now Show, as well as BBC Radio 5 Live on Fighting Talk. He also works for Today FM, presenting his own radio show titled Neil Delamere’s Sunday Best.

In 2018-2019 he starred in the BBC ‘mockumentary’ Soft Border Patrol, a sitcom which takes place in the stretch of land where the EU meets the UK, the Soft Border Patrol, and monitors those who are caught “between a rock and a soft place”. In 2014, Neil created a four-part documentary series, Holding out for a Hero, where he looked into the true stories behind four of his favourite Irish heroes.

This was not the only documentary he has fronted; he fronted the Celtic Media award-winning comedy There’s Something about Patrick (2013) and the Irish Film and Television award-winning The Only Viking in the Village (2011).
