Amy Matthews is a stand-up comedian whose intelligent, distinctive, and warm style has seen her become a firm favourite on the live comedy circuit.
She has performed several critically acclaimed shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, including ‘I Feel Like I’m Made of Spoilers’ and ‘Commute With the Foxes’ which was followed by a UK tour and saw Amy included in The List’s Hot 100. She has already been tour support for comedians Ed Byrne, Suzi Ruffell, Tom Allen, and Tom Davis.
Amy has experience hosting fundraisers, Q&As, and private gigs across venues and members clubs, conducted auctions, and hosting graduation ceremonies, and is available for hosting, panels, cabaret acts, and brand campaigns.

On television, Amy Matthews has appeared on the BAFTA-winning Scot Squad and Comedy Central Live, and has featured on radio programmes Fred at the Stand for BBC Radio 4, Breaking the News and The Good The Bad and the Unexpected for BBC Radio Scotland, and Nihal Arthanayake’s and Patrick Kielty’s shows for BBC 5 Live.
She also runs Comedians Do Poems With Ben Pope, a quarterlife poetry night for comedians. The poems and articles she has written have been published in The Idler, The Skinny, The Metro, Ancient Times, and English Heritage Magazine.
Her comedy has seen her win the Scottish Comedy Award 2019 for Best Newcomer, and was a semi-finalist in the 2018 So You Think You’re Funny competition.
Amy is the host of the official English Heritage podcast where she brings you entertaining tales from unexpected places. Each spides starts with a mystery item, and with the help of English Heritage experts and special guests, she explores what our past can tell us about our present and potentially our future. She previously hosted the BBC Podcast Snookered, which covered the world championships and saw her interview stars of the snooker world.
